What: Council October Meeting / Strategic Planning Workshop

The Council meeting will be from 9:00 to 12:00. The afternoon will be a Strategic Planning Workshop. Council meeting particulars are below. Strategic Planning Workshop materials can be found on the CGIA web set (www.cgia.org).

During the Council Meeting (9:00 - 12:00) we will be accepting nominations for and voting on Council Chair and Vice Chairs. The Chair position, is currently held by Mike Byrne designee for Secretary Kim Belshe, Health and Human Services Agency. The vice-chair position(one of two vice-chairs), is held by Bob Slobodian representing the Regional Councils sector. Bob will not be seeking to return to the council executive. Please direct questions, concerns, and nominations to Carol Ostergren (costergren@usgs.gov) prior to the meeting, and depending on nominations, an appropriate ballot can be prepared. The nomination period will remain open until a call for the vote.

We will also open up the floor for submittal of the name of nominees at the Council meeting. Please note we need to establish a quorum for voting on this issue. The tentative agenda is:

1. Governance Issues (Change in Council seats; election of new Chair and Vice Chair)
2. Framework Data (Hydrography, Imagery, Parcel, Critical Infrastructure, etc)
3. Council Topic on GIS Certification (requested by GISC)
4. Creation of a Homeland Security Working Group
5. Update from the National States GIS Council Conference
